This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

We are a Title I high school, and our nearly 1,300 students come from a variety of backgrounds. The library is a sanctuary for many of our students, and they come for a warm and quiet place to read, play board games, work on group projects, and study.

I am happy to say that our students love their library.

Our English learning students, our special needs students, and our AP & IB students all intermingle in the library. It is truly the heart of our campus.

A well-equipped library is a gift that all students deserve!

My Project

Manga (Japanese graphic novels) are a favorite, especially by reluctant readers! They inspire a love of reading, and are also wonderful tools for readers who are learning English. Manga books are often the first section students go looking for, and I want to give them the best in that genre!

Unfortunately, our manga collection is very tiny and outdated, and we frequently have students browse that area looking for books they haven't already read in our collection.

I hate turning them away empty handed! Please help us breathe new life into our manga section!
