My Students Love Big Books! We Need a Storage Bin!

My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. I know that I can offer them a future that they can excel in. I want them to know that I believe in them and they can do anything.

I teach at a Title I school in Colorado where 100 percent of our students receive free breakfast and 75 percent receive free lunch.

My school is also lucky to be a part of the "Backpack Program", which provides food for students on the weekend.

I teach 1st and 2nd grade literacy. Many of my students are below grade level in reading so they have to be put onto READ Plans. I work hard to help these kids be on grade level by the end of the year. My goal is to help them not only learn how to read, but learn to embrace the joy of reading. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can so they can be successful one day.

My Project

My first and second graders love shared reading time! I love it too! I use Big Books to engage my kids into the love of reading. We read together, they read to me, and we embrace the flow of the story by fully engaging in the pictures, style and verse. Big Books allow me to help even the most reluctant reader feel successful.

Your donation to this Big Book Storage Bin will enable me to make these Big Books easily accessible for the kids to enjoy during reading rotations!

Currently I have to store them in a closet....I would love to have them out to share!
