Every morning we try to share something exciting happening in our lives before moving on to our daily routine, starting with reading then math, follow by science and social studies. However, I am always faced with the challenge of keeping the children engaged in a productive classroom.
Maya Angelou once stated "People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel".
With this in mind, I want my 29 first graders to feel loved, nurtured, comfortable in their own skin and ready to take on the challenges of their own learning. My first graders are clever, fun, original and have a thirst for learning. They love to be around each other and take great pride in working together. I feel very fortunate to work with them in a general education classroom. My school encourages the students to succeed and reach for the stars, as well as encouraging the staff to think outside the box and bring creativity to our craft. My students have fun learning in our classroom!
My Project
I am asking for an iPad and a case for my class so that I can offer a variety of ways for learning. This year there is a big push in my school for STEM learning, therefore I feel that the iPad will be helpful because it will allows the students to look up resources on animals, properties of matter and weather, and they can access apps such as Brain Pop Jr to explore and discover facts about these topics.
I also am asking for wireless headphones so that my students can work independently and without interruption for their classmates.
I am excited to integrate these materials in the class and into the lives of my students.
