My Students

Our classrooms are inspiring classrooms. The students have eager minds and are ready to learn at all times. They are excited about everything they will learn this year. The students have a wide range of interests and abilities. In this classroom we reach our students with hands on actives and meaningful conversations. We spend a lot of time in small groups so that we can reach each student on a deeper level.

Over half of the students in our classes are bilingual!

Our classrooms are a myriad of cultures. Everyone is unique and learns in their own way. We encourage students to share their personal experiences and cultures with each other. The students are creative and very helpful, thoughtful and giving to others. We are building community in the classroom by having shared values and learning about each other.

My Project

My students are very excited to start reading chapter books. As their teacher, I want to help foster their excitement by starting them with a book in a series. At the end of the book I will give the entire series to three individual students.

Students will learn Sticky Note reading strategies to help them understand chapter books.

I will provide the students with these Sticky Note resources in take-home care packages.

Learning these strategies will help enhance the students reading comprehension as well as help them prepare for standardized testing. Since the majority of our students continue to learn remotely, these strategies learned will enhance their independent reading and learning. Acquiring these books will further offer incentives for the students to want to engage in reading as a sense of competition motivates activity.
