This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are amazing! The school we are at is a Title I-funded school in Arizona. We have a fantastic administration, wonderful teammates, and the best students! My students are very hard workers and also know how to have fun. I wouldn't trade them for anything. I love seeing their faces every morning.

My students have a desire to learn.

They always want to know more, learn more, do more, and read more of everything. Our classroom is our own little family.

My Project

I run a before and after school academy at our K-6 elementary school. Some of the classes are enrichment and the majority are academic, to help support students where they may be struggling.

It can be difficult for students to be motivated to always come to academy, so I wanted to reward students and provide incentives for them to come.

While they will be intrinsically rewarded with their academics improving, I wanted to have tangible rewards as well for students. Our students love squishys, colored pens, stickers for their water bottles, unicorn keychains, smelly erasers, and all kinds of other tiny treasures.
