This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
How often does a teacher have students begging for more books? That is my current predicament. My students love discovering new series that they can jump into and read the whole thing from start to finish. Unfortunately, my library is lacking in a variety of series.
My students attend a public charter school in Texas.
They are in fifth grade. About half of my students have exited a bilingual or dual language program and are in a 100% English classroom for the first time. More than 75% of my students are English Language Learners. In each classroom, my students range from a first grade reading level to a seventh grade reading level.
My Project
My students are required to read everyday in class during independent reading time and at home for homework. Students are allowed to choose their own books, so long as it is on their reading level. They have recently expressed that they would like the opportunity to explore new series. This DonorsChoose project would provide my classroom library with more options on multiple reading levels.
I have the privilege of teaching students who are begging for more books to explore!
They are hungry for books. Help me satisfy their craving for book series by funding this project.
