My Project
My middle school students were in the 3rd, 4th and 5th grades when COVID affected learning at school. I still see social anxiety due to group work. I am using the models for small cooperative learning groups. They can share content and knowledge on a smaller scale so they will have less anxiety and greater success.
My students' curiosity will be peaked in the classroom with the models of the solar system and the sun-Earth-moon systems!
Because my students live in a rural environment, we are able to to see many stars, the moon, and some planets. My students often come to class with exciting news about a planet, an eclipse, constellations, the moon, or another phenomenon they've experienced.

We will use the models to calculate and create scale models of the solar system in the school gym. They will never forget the vast size of the universe!
