Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have a first grade class with 15 students; they are bilingual students and come from low socioeconomic backgrounds.

My students vary in knowledge and language skills.

They are visual and concrete learners and need warm area to read and concentrate. My students vary in their ability to speak English, but they get lots of practice time.

Finding their books, and manipulative is important to the flow of the classroom. Students can't share during Covid-19, so finding a comfort zone for them to read in important. The carpet will help my students with shapes and alphabets and will enable the learning styles.

My Project

The rug will help students with a visual approach to learning. We can practice the alphabets, shapes and colors all in one place. Pointing and describing the different and vibrant colors on the carpet will help all visual learning and it will enhance learning for small groups instruction. We can also practice social distancing on the carpet and students will enjoy the visual approach to fit their learning styles for years to come. When the floor is cold the students will have a comfort area to enjoy a good book.
