I am a fourth grade teacher in the Spring Garden section of Philadelphia. The children in my class come from very diverse backgrounds and many live in poverty. Most of my students can not afford even their basic school supplies.
These are wonderful children who need to be given a chance to succeed!
. I try my best to make the class bright and cheery for my students, which can sometimes be a difficult task considering the lack of space in my classroom
These children need a positive environment and a safe place to come to every day to enhance their chances of learning.
My Project
My classroom is very small so I need to have things that are able to be mobile! Our reading program has a lot of components, so having an easel that I can move around will help my students to succeed and focus on what is in front of them.
Having the ability to move an easel to different places in the classroom will provide new experiences for my students, even though our classroom isn't very big.
We are hoping that, being able to adapt even in small quarters, will give my students new experiences throughout the day.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
Data about students' economic need comes from the National Center for Education Statistics, via our partners at MDR Education. Learn more
