My Students
My students reside in a low-income area with little to no stability within the households. My school is a Title I, public and urban school located in Southeast Memphis. Over the years, the enrollment has decreased 900 students to a little over 300 students.
My class motto is Even though I may learn differently, TEACH ME.
I service students with learning disabilities ranging from ADHD, SLD,ID or EmD that include severe behavior. The obstacles my students are faced with on a daily basis would make the average adult crumble, but my students adapt and keep pushing forward.
My goal is to give each of my students an environment that is inviting & relaxing but conducive to learning.
My Project
Can my seat help me learn? Each student learns differently which applies not only to how they are taught but where they are taught.
The importance of flexible seating provides the student the ability to learn while sitting in a relaxed position.
The ECR4Kids Surf Portable Lap Top Desk/Laptop Stand/Writing Table as well as the Portable Folding Lap Desk with Storage will enable the student to work from the carpet, to the bean bags or the cushion crates. Any area in the classroom will become a workable area with the comfort and flexibility. With the various learning disabilities of my students, the flexible seating encourages my students to find their best spot to stay calm, focused and productive.
My students can have ownership in how they learn as well as where they learn. An environment conducive to a students learning equals a happy student, happy teacher and a successful school year.
