My Science Vocabulary

My students need markers and cardstock to make vocabulary books. The HP ink is for making their own science bookmarks.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My kiddos live in a high poverty area. My school is a Title 1 school. Everyday is a struggle for some, more than others. Giving them the opportunity to do hands on science projects lets our tactile learners excel.

A love for science is something that can grow into something wonderful and is rarely forgotten.

My science lab is also a break from everyday bookwork and worksheets. When we do stations, they get so excited because we get to move around the room while learning.

My Project

If my students have the supplies to make their own vocabulary books, they can write and draw about the words they don't know or are having trouble with. Making vocabulary books is fun, artistic, individual, and educational.

Since most of my kiddos are Spanish dominant, science vocabulary can tend to be difficult and drawing a picture makes learning fun and memorable.

Making individual bookmarks will also help since each child will decide what words need to be on their bookmark. Since science can be integrated into all other subjects, practicing new methods of learning will help in all aspects of school. We will use these markers, paper, and ink to make our vocabulary books and bookmarks.
