Have you ever read a book in which you truly got lost? Things were going on around you that you didn't even notice because you were so engulfed in the story. This is how almost every single one of my students is when it comes to reading. My classroom library cannot seem to quench my students' thirst!
I teach a class of 30 gifted first graders.
They absolutely love to read and are quickly working their way through my entire classroom library. One student went home and expressed to her parents that she was concerned about having enough books to last her through the entire year! This made me realize that the book situation in my classroom is becoming somewhat desperate!
My Project
In getting this new selection of books to add to our classroom library, my students will have more choices and will not have to worry about running out of books to read. I fear that, if they are not provided with more choices, they will lose their current love for reading. You can help to stop this from happening! Please consider the last book that you read that you truly loved. Now imagine that you had never been able to get your hands on a copy of that book. How would you feel?
My students are constantly giving me requests for books that they would like to see included in our library.
Sadly, I cannot always run out to purchase these books, due to other financial obligations. As a result, I am unable to provide these book requests to my students. If you donate to this project, you will be helping to do just that! Please consider this wonderful cause! Thank you so much!
