Help me give my students an appreciation of how food is grown and sometimes how difficult it can be for food to go from the farm to the fork.

My Project
I have been a Healthful Living teacher for 19 years and have enjoyed it from day one. I love to watch students grow into their full physical and emotional selves a little bit each day. I believe that this is done by providing students with different opportunities and one of those is creating a place where they can bring out their caring nature by gardening.
I want my students to grow herbs and vegetables as part of the Healthful Living Curriculum Essential Standards as listed in the Nutrition and Physical Activity unit.
This type of activity done over the course of the semester with each student will give students an insight into what it takes to grow edible plants: water, nutrients, sunlight, how long the growing cycle is, and patience.
