My Students
The excitement of a special technology lesson shouldn't occur only a few times a year.
I teach in a high poverty, urban area where my students and their families struggle with meeting basic needs.
With this said, I LOVE teaching at this school because my first graders are so excited about learning. Realizing they are on the cusp of reading on their own, they start to feel empowered. Learning to LOVE learning for the sake of learning, not just to get passing test scores, is my goal for these kids.
My Project
Being fiscally responsible is always a concern, and since I currently have a laptop, projector and a large whiteboard in my classroom, I do not need an expensive new Smartboard. What I do need to maximize my current resources, is a MimioTeach system that will allow me to transform my current whiteboard into a complete interactive teaching system at a much more economical price.
Using interactive technology allows students to remain actively engaged in their learning as several teaching modalities such as auditory, visual, and kinesthetic are all incorporated within the same lesson.
