My Little Wiggly Learners Want to Sit on the Floor

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I teach first graders, are creative little people with inquiring minds. They do their best work while moving around (away from their desks), and communicating with each other. Sitting still in a hard seat at a boring desk is neither fun, nor motivating for them.

My students prefer to flex and stretch their muscles and their bodies.

We do many writing and math assignments that are well suited for floor work. Each day, we do are Social, Emotional, Mindfulness Breathing and this takes place on the floor. Flexible, comfortable seating with these floor seats will help all of my students be more comfortable in the classroom.
