My Students

Help our kids become strong and passionate readers! My students are in need of sets of books to read with their peers.

I am fortunate enough to be with a wonderful group of eager first graders.

They are always focused on meeting our big school goal, to achieve 90% or better on all assessments! They have worked hard, and our students at this school have closed the African American achievement gap with all of their hard work. They have an extended school day, they are in class from 7:30-3:45.

My Project

We have a long school day, and my students love to have a chance to work with a group during center time. I would love to have book sets for my kids to follow along to during center time. It is the perfect experience for budding readers...they can follow along with a fluent, expressive reader and learn from the CD! We need sets of books to read along with during center time, the kids will be thrilled and inspired!

This project is so important because reading is our big goal in first grade.

Listening along to a CD helps students hear what good readers sound like. It will improve their expressiveness as a reader, their fluency and comprehension. Not to mention, it is so fun to have your own personal book to read along with!
