My Kids Deserve It

My Project

My students are going to grow up into adults that will make the world a better place. I am happy knowing they will one day be making decisions for the world. COVID-19 has brought many challenges, including delays in interacting with others, understanding social cues, and absences in school which leads to being behind.

Despite all of these challenges, my students have proven they are ready to beat the odds.

All of the following materials will help my students academically, socially, and emotionally. These are things that will be used directly by the students during instruction: whiteboard markers, clipboards, and sharpies. Whiteboard markers are used during all subjects of our day. We use clipboards when learning how to work with others, or working independently around the classroom. We use sharpies during art, to learn how to self regulate and calm ourselves.

There are also materials listed that will specifically be used to work on social emotional components in the classroom. I have asked for several board games, as these allow my students to work as a group and enhance their listening skills. I have also included several tools to calm down students including a hugging ball, a stuffed animal, and 2 books that go over self regulation and identifying feelings.

I have also asked for things that will enhance our learning environment when reviewing for challenging skills. When children don't realize they are learning, that is when you get the best results. Therefore, I asked for classroom buzzers to use when we play Jeopardy to review our math. I also asked for black lights and neon materials. These will also be used or review, to change the classroom environment in a fun and engaging way. We also need math manipulatives for shapes and place value.
