Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a low income community in Phoenix. Most of my students are free or reduced lunch. I've had several of my students not complete some of their assignments the first quarter due to not having the simplest supplies such as glue sticks or scissors.

During COVID it's been such a hard transition for some of our families.

Although this transition has been hard my students and families have shown so much effort to give their children a better education than their own. This is what inspires me to continue as a teacher. Some of my parents had never touched a laptop before COVID and have been forced to learn about the technology world.

Regardless of these circumstances my students show up to class every morning ready to learn. Not one day has gone by this school year without me hearing, "Good morning Miss Lara" with a smile on their face. The cutest little messages they type in the chat box make my day and keep me going through the hardest days.

My Project

This will allow my hunnies to have access to books in class and to take them home. We aren't allowed to have trips to the school library and it has been affecting my hunnies in many ways. They don't have the same benefits other second graders have had in the past due to COVID.

The donations to this project will not help only my hunnies for this school year but the following ones too.

Teachers are doing everything they can during this time to try to give the best education with today's circumstances. I just want to see my hunnies succeed today, tomorrow, and until they reach their goals in the future.
