I am a first grade teacher in need of a big book display cart. I teach full time at a low-income school in the Northwest. We are a Title 1 school, with more than 75% of students below the poverty line.
Everybody remembers your first grade teacher reading a big book to you. Well, I am a first grade teacher with many big books that I can’t use for my eager-to-learn six year-olds. They ask me every day, “Can you read that book to us?” I shake my head and say, “It’s too heavy. When I get us a big book holder, I will read you every big book we have.” They are too big and floppy in my small hands. I am a petite sized woman and the book is almost as tall as I am when I sit down in my chair. If I hold the book, I can’t see my students. Can someone help us by providing us a big book display cart? In that way, I can set the book on it and store the rest in the cabinet. It will be the perfect tool for me and my students.
I am asking for a big book display cart. This essential tool would improve my teaching greatly. With a big book display cart, my students will be more motivated to read those big books. They will be exposed to more quality literature. They can read the same book at the same time and discuss it together to reinforce their reading comprehension skills. They can wheel the cart to different places in the room and explore the big books stored there. They can pretend to be teachers with the cart, which helps them to articulate their learning with audiences. They can use the drawing board on the cart. They can benefit so … much with it.
Teachers need the right tools to teach, as you need the right tools to perform your tasks at work. All these adorable children deserve the best. Your help is essential in our lives.
