My Students
Little House on the Prairie is something I grew up knowing. What a wonderful depiction of what life was like in the 1800's in the times of American Pioneers!
My students are eager to immerse themselves in learning about the past.
When we began this unit, I showed the students artifacts from the past. It got the student's wheels turning as they wondered and developed questions about what life may have been like for the people who used these items.
My Project
To learn about the past, how things have changed, why things changed, and the early days of our country, the students have decided that they want to put on a pioneer reenactment at our school. We will use the books requested to research pioneer life. They will be a piece of the puzzle as the students start to put together their reenactment of pioneer life. Students will be able to create their set and costumes from the images. They will be able to develop lines to say during the reenactment from the stories and other research we do.
This project will bring the past to life for my students as well as the other children at the school who walk through our reenactment.
Please help us make this historical study possible for our classroom!
