My students need letter builders, letter beads, letter and number peg boards, and tactile letters!
FULLY FUNDED! Mrs. Clark's classroom raised $515

I am a special educator in an urban area. I teach first, second, and third grade. I decided to teach in an urban area because I believe in closing the achievement gap and in creating an environment where my students feel safe, comfortable, and motivated to learn. Here is how you can help me achieve that.
This year I got two new first grade scholars. They are a joy to have in the classroom. However these first graders lack the basic skills that are needed as first graders. These skills include number and letter recognition and everything we learn during first grade requires the scholars to have these skills. I have tried the traditional paper, pencil, and flashcard method and still they are not learning. I want them to be able to use their hands when they are practicing these skills. When students practice by using their hands they will begin to learn more.
With these tactile materials from Lakeshore Learning, my scholars will learn their numbers and letters. These materials will provide a more engaging way for them to practice their skills each and everyday. It will also serve as motivation for these scholars to practice these skills. They have become bored with the daily paper, pencil, and flashcard. I want to keep them engaged and motivated to keep learning.
Now is the time! The more time that passes the farther behind they fall. Help me make my classroom more engaging so that scholars will learn the basic skills. I thank you for all you are about to do and all that it will continue to do in future.
