Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Our PC tablet TouchSmart Notebook computer was recently funded through a Donors Choose grant! We now have an awesome computer that we can use in our classroom but now we need an LCD projector that will project the computer on a big screen for my students to see.
I have 29 wonderful 1st graders that are brilliant!
Unfortunately, our school is considered high poverty. Also, my students are mostly English Language Learners (ELLs), which means that they speak another language at home and are still at beginning stages of learning English. These are some of the obstacles that my students endure in their educational careers. In addition, since our school is overcrowded and lacks some financial support, we are not able to provide the students with access to technology. There are no computer classes or computers for my students to use at school. Technology is a luxury that unfortunately my students do not have access to. Many of them do not have a computer at home or let alone know how to operate one.
My Project
I am requesting an Epson Digital LCD Projector. This projector is needed in our classroom so that we can connect the PC notebook computer to it and project it on a big screen so that all of my students can see. This allows us to use the wonderful resources from the Internet such as pictures, movies, blogs, etc. This also will allow us to show educational films. This is great because since my students are ELLs they definitely benefit from learning visually and having this projector will enhance any lesson taught through the use of visuals.
Please make a difference in my first graders educational careers by providing them with the same resources that wealthier children have access to.
Just because they are poor does not mean that they cannot learn equally! Please help them prepare for the future through technology.
