This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My kindergarten special education students are experiencing school for the very first time. Each day, they are learning how to be part of a classroom, how to follow routines, express their needs, and engage with academics while navigating unique challenges related to autism, ADHD, sensory processing, and developmental delays.
What makes my students so special is their resilience.
They work hard to accomplish what many take for granted, and they deserve tools that support their growth and celebrate their strengths.
This project will provide resources that make a meaningful difference in their daily learning. The Lakeshore wobble chair will offer my student with dwarfism a seating option that promotes comfort and inclusion. The body sock and chew necklaces will support sensory regulation so students can feel calm and focused. Visual supports like the First-Then schedule and SchKIDules magnetic chart will help ease transitions and support independence.
Academic materials like CVC word games, math manipulatives, pencils, and dry erase markers will support reading, writing, and math interventions in small group and one-on-one instruction. Memory games and sequencing cards will strengthen working memory, while bilingual tools like the social-emotional flipbook will help all students. This will help my Spanish speaking learners understand and express their feelings.
Finally, binding combs and staple removers will allow me to create personalized social stories and reusable visuals that directly support student success.
