My Students
My students are imaginative, energetic, talkative and fun. They love to participate in hands on activities where they can work independently or in groups. Even though some of my students live in poverty and sometimes don't have their basic needs met they still show much resiliency in coming to school and desiring to learn each day.
The majority of my students are students of color and they enjoy learning about different role models that look like them but have overcome obstacles and challenges to be successful.
My Project
The Social Emotional materials will help my students to develop and grow with their emotions. The choice and feelings puzzles, writing prompts etc. can help my students to learn about feelings and that it is ok to show your feelings. I work with students that are not use to talking about their feelings and the selected materials can help them to be more confident with sharing their feelings with others.
The sensory materials selected can help my students when they are feeling angry or have anxiety.
I have students that have issues with anger and get upset daily. Sometimes they need a quiet activity that can help calm them down and help them work through their negative feelings.
The growth mindset journals can help my students to work on seeing things in a positive light. I have many students that have a fixed mindset about their present circumstances. It's hard for many of them to view things in a positive light. I think the journals will help my students that struggle with low self esteem to improve their outlook about life in general.
The Career Awareness puppets can help my youngest students to use play as a learning activity regarding careers. Career Awareness is so important to development of young students. Exposing them to Careers at an early age can help them to understand how school is an important part of their future success.
