This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are excited to learn and connect. They are natural storytellers and seek safety and inclusion. We are a community of learners and multiple languages are spoken. We honor students backgrounds and I strive to create a comfortable and challenging learning environment. Many of our students are from Central America, México, and the Philippines. Their families have been through a lot to be here. They have rich and diverse cultures. They value education and I feel extremely blessed to be their teacher in these early years of kindergarten and first grade. ​

My Project

I post photos of students all over the classroom. We have a friends and family wall, we use them for our line order chart, for our goal setting, for our word wall, and for family projects too. Students are visual learners and they need to see their pictures reflected in the classroom.

The photographs help students feel included and help our days go smoothly.

With this camera, I will be able to post their pictures right away and create that home to school connection. I will be able to show them the processes and procedures for an organized and predictable school day and this helps children feel safe and welcome.
