My Classroom Is My Second Home! We Love to Learn!

My students need the read-along listening center. They also are in desperate need of five beanbag seats and a variety of tempera paints. I love to use props to teach so the multicultural puppets are perfect!

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My special needs babies, never cease to amaze me. They come in everyday with a smile on their face expecting to learn something new. I can't walk them to school and keep them safe, I can't solve their family problems. But, I can teach them and care for them everyday and make them smile!

My special students are 5 and 6 years old and are curious, funny, difficult, needy, loving, and pull at my heartstrings everyday.

They come in the morning and I already have to take one of them so he can sit with me because he can't sit without getting into trouble! He's so smart and he just turned five! He's an auditory learner because he can't sit still long enough to be visually stimulated. He can answer questions when you think he's not listening, but he is! They all are special and very different. They need individualized attention and are extremely needed. I've worked in a low socioeconomic area for over 15 years. Our school is a good school, but we service a population that is very poor and we try to give back to the community as much as we can. I can't protect them outside of the school and I can't solve their family problems. One thing they do know is that I love them and care for them and I want them to always feel that our classroom is their second home, and it is, for some

My Project

The bean bags will be a great added touch the warm environment in my classroom. They will get to sit and read or sit and listen to a read aloud. The listening center is imperative because it allows my auditory learners to enjoy reading instead of staring at a book and wandering off. They will be engaged and focused more. The multicultural puppets will crack them up and I can use different ones everyday. They love to play and teaching and playing gets their attention immediately! The tempera paint will enhance their art skills. There's nothing better than reading a story and drawing a picture about it! I love to draw and paint and teaching them, too! Tracing the letters of the alphabet(tactile), they love it! But they are still having difficulty identifying the letters of the alphabet so this kit will help them. The water and sand table is a must! They go bonkers over the little sand box I have in the classroom. They don't like to share and this will help them learn to work together!

I can't explain to you how much the children will love all of these items I have chosen.

If you think they loved coming to school before, you will triple that feeling if you donate these items to my classroom. It takes very little to excite them, from a sticker to a prize, but something of this magnitude will really set them off and I know they will be forever grateful, as will I. They are only 5 and 6 years old and they already have a rough start, these fun items will brighten their days!
