This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students need more of a variety of British Literature books. We need to be introduced to some Scottish writers.
My students choose to be in British Literature as a senior.
The class I teach is the only British Literature at this high school so my budget for this class is limited knowing the need for variety. I have all the British classics except for some other known writers from this region. For once, I like to add more to my canon so I can teach the students about other fabulous writers.
My Project
This novel is great to talk about different topics that can derive from the "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde." There is history that goes behind the novel and many relevant class discussions that can come from it. The students will also be introduced to other British writers besides the ones already introduced in earlier English classes. Besides this is a great book, too.
The novels will be used for future years.
It will be nice to carry the novel on their own instead of having photocopies. This is also a great way to introduce other great writers from this region. They might not know that Robert Louis Stevenson also wrote this book besides Treasure Island.
