This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My middle school students are lively, fearless, and active learners. My students are completely bilingual and bi-literate. These students come to school each and every day ready to learn despite of their family living arrangements. They have daily struggles, but they try their hardest to overcome these struggles to become successful students.
My school is located in a neighborhood that faces many difficulties on a daily basis.
My amazing diverse group of students are always eager to tackle any challenge I present to them and thrive when given the opportunity to work and learn collaboratively in a variety of ways.
My Middle School-level English learners are eager for knowledge and learning the new English language. Their enthusiasm motivates and drives me to work hard for them and the best of education I can provide. My students come to school looking forward to learn, to explore, and cultivate for their future.
My school is a Title I school and 98% of students receive free lunches daily. Even though these students are moving around a lot and being cared for by different foster care families, guardians and caretakers, they still make it to school everyday.
My Project
My class is in desperate need of technology in the classroom as a learning station. Due to the pandemic and social distancing guidelines, the students can not share technology and have to maintain 3 feet distance within a classroom. I believe that computers for my ENL and Special needs middle school grade students will give them the opportunity to learn digitally while acquiring a new language. Having a laptop station will give my students that do not have their own devices the ability to work and learn alongside their peers.
The laptop will also allow my students to use academic programs such as iXl and Raz-kids that will help them close the learning gaps that were created during the pandemic by giving students personalized lessons designed to help them succeed this school year.
With new technology resources, my students will be able to practice and improve their Reading skills as well as grow a love for learning in a fun and interactive way!
