My Students
We have two pre-k classes, serving a total of up to 36 children. We are excited to begin our third year of pre-k for our neighborhood families, focusing on social-emotional development and helping children and parents be ready for school. Most of our students come to kindergarten with no experience with school, without having exposure to pencils, art materials, or books.
In our class, teachers carefully choose materials to help children strengthen their literacy and social-emotional skills in developmentally appropriate ways.
Teachers help children build their independence, confidence, and school readiness through literature, play, and love.
My Project
Scholastic's "My Big World" magazines are created just for preschoolers. Not only will my students get their own magazines full of interesting science and social skills topics to keep at home and read over and over again, but they will also have access to online videos and games to deepen their knowledge and engagement in the content.
Providing "My Big World" magazines to each of my students helps them stay connected to learning, even when they are at home.
This year, we will be starting our school year off in distance learning and will be sending materials to each student's home. Teachers will also provide online lessons and live class meetings. I would love to be able to give my students opportunities to interact with the same text in a highly engaging format, along with printable games and activities for them to complete with their families at home.
When we come back to in-person school, our Scholastic magazines will continue to support our learning in reading, science, and social skills.
