This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
This year I would love to establish a dedicated calm corner in our classroom environment that provides a supportive space for 7th-grade students to manage stress, regulate emotions, and enhance their overall well-being.
Managing emotions and stress is essential for academic success and social-emotional development.
Adolescents often benefit from designated spaces where they can self-regulate and recharge during challenging moments.
This calm corner will provide a quiet retreat where students can practice mindfulness, relaxation techniques, or simply take a moment to refocus.
Support emotional regulation and reduce stress levels, thereby promoting a positive classroom atmosphere and enhancing learning outcomes.
The following items will benefit the outcome:
Carpet: A comfortable and inviting area where students can sit or lie down comfortably.
Seating Options: Bean bags, or floor chairs to accommodate different preferences for seating.
Divider: A partition or screen to create a private space within the corner, enhancing privacy and focus.
Decorations: Calming decor such as posters with motivational quotes, soft lighting, plants, and artwork to create a soothing atmosphere.
The calm corner will not only benefit students' emotional well-being but also teach valuable self-regulation skills.
It will complement existing classroom strategies for promoting positive behavior and mental health.
