Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
My fifth grade students are curious, resourceful and forward thinking. As a nature-based school, they make creative connections between what they learn in class to experiences in nature. They are observant and can often be found noticing a new sapling, following the path of an ant colony, or marveling once a cicada has emerged from its exoskeleton. Whether they are reading outdoors, studying invasive plant species or using natural materials to build models, they thrive from deep thinking and outdoor learning. Students are always asking thoughtful questions of the world around them, and seeking answers.
Having laptops will help my 5th grade students access research tools and educational platforms to deepen their critical thinking skills.
With laptops, students will be able to document their learning in the form of essays, presentations and digital projects. They will be able to research topics that ignite their curiosity, collaborate with peers, and share their learning with our school community. As a nature-based school, students are developing a consciousness and care for the environment. Having laptops will help students develop their technology skills so they can make meaningful contributions to our society.
