Art can be a messy business, and my students are sometimes afraid to paint because they don't want to make a mess. I teach high school art in a low-income district. Because of this, my budget for supplies is very limited. It is extremely hard to find the extra money for non-essential items like aprons that could make painting a worry-free and exciting experience for my students.
Our school requires uniforms, and many of my students are just a little less-than-neat when it comes to painting. I want my students to be able to paint freely without worrying about getting paint on their uniforms.
My students need aprons to wear while painting in class or working with other "messy" media. With a classroom set of good quality heavy aprons, each student will have access to one when it comes time to paint. These aprons will keep my students focused on their artwork rather than worrying about getting paint on their school uniform. This resource will last for years to come and provide many future students with the freedom to truly focus on their painting.
