My students are a vibrant group of third graders that come from a wide range of backgrounds and family situations. Our school provides a common ground for each of my students, where they are able to come to school ready to learn knowing they are walking into a safe environment. We spend about half of our day in this classroom and they need to have spaces where they feel comfortable and relaxed so we can do our best learning!
My Project
In order to keep student literacy materials organized, students must have book bins! They are necessary for students to store all their books and journals in the classroom, without these books go missing, students check out less books and items become damaged. Third graders need all the help they can get when organizing their materials. Reading is the most essential academic part of the day and we need to set children up for success from the start. By donating to this project, you are helping students generate good reading habits and helping them to become lifelong readers!
“Students will read if we give them the books, the time, and the enthusiastic encouragement to do so.
If we make them wait for the one unit a year in which they are allowed to choose their own books and become readers, they may never read at all. To keep our students reading, we have to let them.” -Donalyn Miller
