Help me give my students the opportunity to own and learn their very first instrument: the recorder! Last years' recorder instruction was completely halted after school closures. With this project, I can assure the safe distribution of materials.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students, or as I like to call them, musicians - are ultra talented and energetic children. Even the little ones who are just beginning their music education journey come in dancing and singing. All I want for them is to feel the joy that music brings and help them to develop the skills needed to foster a lifelong relationship with music.
My Project
Through this project, each student will receive their very own recorder to keep at home. This is super special for my students because they know that recorders usually live at school. In previous years, I would keep track of storage and disinfecting. Given the current situation, I cannot guarantee the safe distribution and storage of materials in the school building.
I cannot express enough how important it is for my musicians to experience the ownership and pride that comes with learning a new instrument.
Every child deserves this opportunity, despite circumstance. Learning to play recorder will help to develop musical skills, but it will also aide in teaching discipline, commitment, and community.
