Musically Unite the Flag Team

Help me give my students on the Flag Team the opportunity to break into small groups to create and perform their personal created flag routines at their school, parades and community events.

My Students

My Spirit Flag Team of 25 to 35 students are a special group of very dedicated and devoted flaggers. These young flaggers are ages 5th through 8th grade. They personally commit to impact their school as well as the communities around them. Being on the Flag team gives each flagger the opportunity to set personal as well as team goals. My students learn so many life lessons from being on the Flag Team. When the year begins many of my flaggers have not had the experience to work in a team environment, but by the end of the year, all my Flag Team students have learned that practice makes perfect, to believe the best in others, to never give up, character building skills, patience, kindness, endurance, team and school spirit, respect, personal, taking ownership and that they will make mistakes, commitment. What makes my team of flaggers so special is that they want to be the best they can be. I love that my Flag Team students are very proud to be a part of something that prepares them to be future leaders of integrity.

My Project

My Flag Team students are in need of 6 Music iPods because, throughout our school year, my Flag Team students are broken up into small groups of 3 to 5 flaggers, and they are encouraged to create small group performance routines for their school and community events. We are a team of 25 to 35 flaggers, and breaking them up into small groups helps the team learn the many routines each year that they must learn, a lot more easily. In the past, only those flag students who had their own iPods or cellphones were the flag students who were able to lead a small group. This year I would like to open up this leadership opportunity to all my Flag Team students, whether they own their own iPod or not. Having enough iPods for all our small group routines will make a profound difference in leadership positions for every flagger. These iPods will always stay with our practice flags and our speakers which means that we will have these iPods available at every practice for constant flag use and whenever we need them. We will no longer have to depend on only those students who have had their own iPods. These iPods will allow for more small groups and for all flaggers to lead a small group or work on the different musical routines that they think they need to work on because now we can get the music to them.
