My Project
My students love music in the classroom especially when it involves them play along to the songs that we sing. Currently, my class only has10 ukuleles to share between 30 students. Students had to take turns playing and practicing the songs we are learning.
Additional ukuleles will provide the opportunity for each student to play in the classroom at the same time.
This helps them learn together and help each other improve more quickly. Collaborative learning is excellent for the kids because they can practice and build upon each other's musical skills, and get more advanced as they encourage and motivate each other. As they progress, they will be able to pass on their skills to younger students at our school and teach them what they know. My 4th grade students love helping our kindergarteners and first graders!
The ukuleles will play many roles in the class for the students. First and foremost, it will give all students a chance to incorporate music with academic learning. From literature, math, science, and social studies, the possibilities are endless when using music to help my students expand their knowledge and make all that they are learning easy to remember. This will enhance not only their academic development but their social skills, too.
