Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach grades 6-8 at a very low income school. I have five sections of general music during the day and then 2-3 days before school I teach choir. There is a lot of interest in music among the students, but I do not have enough supplies to meet all of their individual needs.
My students love to go into detail when it comes to working with their classmates on projects. A lot of the time we do not have the materials for the students to do what they would like to do. I feel that they will be much more involved in their assignment and projects once they know that they have resources in our classroom to use!
We need basic art supplies such as markers, crayons, colored pencils, scissors, glue sticks, construction paper, etc. This will benefit my students because they will no longer have to worry about the quality of their projects due to lack of supplies. They will be able to happily work with friends and have everything they need at their fingertips!
You will ensure that my students worry more about their project than how they are going to come up with the materials that they need. The classroom will be less stressful and more carefree with students knowing that there is a cabinet full of supplies for them to use to make their projects that best that they can be!
