My Students
Recorders are a very important aspect in the elementary general music classroom. All students should have access to this wonderful musical experience.
Our school is a school for students with special needs.
Most of our students are on the autistic spectrum, or have other learning disabilities. Music is very important in the curriculum for students with disabilities. Many of our students find success in our classes, as opposed to core subjects.
My Project
One of the most important aspects of the music classroom is music literacy. Using recorders, this would provide an additional way for our students to be able to practice musical skills, as well as learning to make music. Recorders will also help students with their fine motor skills, gross motor skills, hand-eye coordination, as well as speech skills.
This project is important, in that while it will help them become better musicians, it will also help them in many of their related services (such as speech, physical therapy, occupational therapy).
Recorders would help make the transition into musical readers fun and fulfilling for my students.
