Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

As an elementary teacher in a Title I designated school which means a low-income/medium to high poverty, public school, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. My students come from diverse cultural backgrounds and many receive a free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. Recently, our school had a reduction in our music program. Most students can't afford to pay for private music classes outside of the school. My goal is to provide students with a creative and meaningful learning experience through music and create expressive communicators.

My students respond positively to music as they often demonstrate strong willingness to express themselves and show great enthusiasm during music class.

Music has demonstrated to positively influence their lives both in and out of the classroom. I hope to continue to enrich their lives and prepare them to perform and share their music with others, while at the same time, help them gain confidence and experience.

My Project

My students need musical instruments, four 3/4 sized guitars, and four ukulele to culturally enrich their learning experience and provide an opportunity to musically express themselves. Your generous donation to my project will not only bring desperately needed instruments to our classroom but also smiles to eager musicians. Overall, these instruments will allow me to teach many students to read music notation and allow them to perform. The guitars will also allow students who can't afford to buy their own instrument an opportunity to participate in class. The ukuleles will be perfect for our younger students who will be able to physically strum their favorite songs. The instruments will definitely enrich my students culturally, musically, and academically.

My students need guitars and ukuleles to begin their musical journey that may change their lives.

All students need an outlet to express themselves and built confidence. Playing instruments is a great way to motivate and empower them.
