This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a music teacher in a school that only has children who have various forms of autism. Music is vital to these children, who love music and can learn visually and audibly sometimes at much faster paces than without. Our music program is very integral in our students' successes. We are trying to expand our instrument selections by having a larger amount of percussion instruments, since our music groups are large and we only have a few of each to distribute. These instruments would go a long way to continuing to build our music program and to have our students get really excited about participating in our special assemblies.
Our students really want to participate and sometimes our students have to wait until the percussion is available for them, instead of them all participating at once to teach them certain techniques. Having more instruments will eliminate this situation.
Musical instruments benefit my students because our students really are attracted to musical participation, which includes singing, dancing, and playing musical instruments, particularly percussion, like bongos and tambourines.
By supplying these instruments, you will really make a difference in these students' lives, fulfilling an opportunity for them that they wouldn't have elsewhere, and giving them a sense of pride and individualism.
