This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
The students in our school are lively and full of energy. Every day, they come to school and class with a fresh attitude and mindset. Regardless of challenges outside the school day, the students arrive every morning with smiles and ready to get their learning on!
For many of the students, an afterschool music program is the only exposure they have to musical theatre, and without knowing much about it, sixty students signed up for an afterschool theatre program.
My Project
Our students come to school ready to learn and engage. They are happy to be in school! In the music room, and around the school, they sing and move to the music they hear in the music room. They are exposed to rich musical ideas, vocabulary and elements of music.
We practice during music class, but a wind instrument is not something to be shared, especially during these times.
Owning a recorder of their own, to practice at home, share with their families, and continue the enjoyment of music beyond the classroom, will be a very special surprise to this group.
