My Students

At our school, 4th and 5th Grade students may elect to join chorus. Students who do so are so eager to make music a greater part of their lives that they spend one lunch period a week in chorus rehearsal! Rehearsals include time to eat lunch together, listen to recordings of the songs students will sing, learn the songs, and practice performing as an ensemble in a professional manner. These students are truly dedicated to chorus.

These student musicians are putting their hearts into learning their music and being an active part of chorus, and thus truly deserve the best learning opportunities possible.

These are students who create invitations to concerts on their own time, who seek out recordings to practice at home, and who excitedly ask how close we are to each performance at every rehearsal. Their enthusiasm should be met with greater opportunities to grow as musicians.

My Project

Without sheet music, my students will only have word sheets available to them, and will lack the important experience of reading notes and rhythms while they sing. They will not be able to put into practice all the musical concepts they have learned.

My students are able musicians who should have the opportunity to actively apply their musical knowledge and practice all their musical skills.

Sheet music will facilitate this experience for them as they prepare for performances, including a spring concert for their families and friends and performances at several nursing homes.

This sheet music also includes a piano accompaniment part which will allow us to have a pianist accompany the students instead of them performing with prerecorded music. This is a very different experience than singing with recorded music, and is an experience that all performers should have.
