This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My third grade students are inquisitive, bright, and enthusiastic learners. They are interested in learning and staying engaged in lessons despite the fact that they've been learning remotely since March 2020. Distance learning has been a challenge for them and for me due to the interruptions of background noise and poor sound quality. A lot of my students live in small apartments or homes where they live with several families.

My Project

My students will learn how to play the recorder along with me. Having their own instrument will give them the opportunity to begin playing music at home. This will literally chance the tune of their days.

I know that learning to play a musical instrument is a useful and fun skill.

My hope is that once they master playing the recorder they will become interested in learning how to play other musical instruments.

Music is a great form of entertainment and a creative outlet. I believe that exploring music will motivate and encourage my students while learning remotely and it is something that we can continue doing in person.
