Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a Kindergarten teacher at a Title 1 elementary school in Ocala where 76% of the students are minority. Nearly 70% of our students are eligible for free lunch. Many of our students would love to take dance classes, but there simply isn't any easily accessible or affordable dance schools in the area.
These kids want to learn how to dance!
Two years ago, I started a dance team for third and fourth graders. We dance at Back to School Bash, award ceremonies, Safe Halloween Night, the Christmas Chorus concert and at a Relay For Life event. We also participate in local parades. These kids practice five hours a week at school and even more at home.
The teachers and administrators proudly support the Dance Team and go above and beyond to help the team be successful. Parents willingly drive their children home late from practice and to the various events in which we participate. Nevertheless, we regularly fall short of funding for the program.
I want them to have the confidence that all of their hard work will show in their performance; a performance that is not interrupted by a faulty music system.
My Project
My Dance Team needs to have a reliable sound system in order to practice their dances. A sound system that can be used with various input devices, such as a usb or mp3 player will ensure that practices and preparation for performances will go smoothly and we can accomplish our goals.
Our music often stops when the team performs!
We need a system that the team can be confident in. They need to know that it will play any device and won't be easily affected by movement or the amount of base in a song.
With a good music system, our team can accomplish their goals of learning to dance, as well as performing to the best of their ability.
