Music Teaching Resources

I need a ukulele curriculum and two books on teaching music to a variety of students.

My Students

In our small Title I school district, I teach music to over 300 prekindergarten through third graders. They are enthusiastic about learning music, and I want to make sure that I have the materials to give them the best education possible.

My students are a diverse group of learners, with many different needs and interests.

I strive to give each and every one of them a special experience in music, and to find the best way to help each one learn.

My Project

I am asking for three different music teaching books. The first is the "Fun Ukulele for Beginners" program. I am going to begin teaching ukuleles to second and third graders this year, and this curricular resource will help me teach a program that gets my students playing and feeling successful right away!

The next book I am requesting is "Responsive Classroom for Music, Art, PE, and Other Special Areas." A few years ago, I attended a week-long Responsive Classroom training, and it transformed the way I run my classroom.

The Responsive Classroom methods ensure that a teacher runs an engaging and efficient classroom, and one in which the environment is always positive and supportive for the students. I am so excited that there is now a book that takes the unique methods of Responsive Classroom and applies it to the special area classroom.

The last book I am requesting is "Music for Children with Hearing Loss: A Resource for Parents and Teachers." This book will provide strategies for teaching music to my deaf students.

These three resources will help me to provide my students with an awesome, exciting, and inspiring music experience.
