My Students
I teach Band at Mac Williams Middle School. I am one of 2 band directors at my school. We have a socially and economically diverse population of students. Our make up includes a large number of students who receive free and reduced lunches every year. Our band has a history of competition and community performances. MWMS consistently places multiple students in All County Band, All District Band And All-State Band as well as receiving superior ratings at Concert Band Music Performance Adjudication. The students at MWMS are full of energy and work hard for us to achieve our goals. We strive to include as many students as possible in the band because we feel it is important for students to have this opportunity.
My Project
These stands will add to our current stands to make sure students in class can have their own stand during class and not have to share which is especially important during social distancing in the classroom. When a student doesn't have a music stand or has to use one of the older ones it is harder to keep up in class. In order for class to run smoothly stands are an important resource. These stands will remain in the classroom for use during the school day. We use music stands everyday in class.
