I am the new music teacher at a Middle school where the arts were taken out of the curriculum for many years. I am in a position where I am left to build a new music program from scratch. My students and I were provided with a very large classroom with a wonderful amount of space. We have been working together to turn the former science classroom into a music room. In the beginning of the school year, the desks were removed and replaced with music stands. The students were so excited!! They felt like they were in a real music classroom. We have put up musical posters and student work to add to the room. We are currently in need of a Music white board (with staves). My students love to participate and go up to the chalkboard when we are writing musical notes and symbols. A music white board would keep the students engaged and promote even more participation. It would also organize and enhance classroom performance. I would be able to allow 3-4 students to the board at a time. I teach 8 seventh grade classes, 1 sixth grade class, and 1 eight grade class. The seventh and eighth grade classes have been deprived of experiencing music for 1-2 years. These students need music. These students love music. I know this white board will positively contribute to their music experience and the future music students of our school.
