My Students
My school is a beautiful place where refugees, immigrants, long-time residents, and the community embrace the diversity and experiences of the students. Many of our city's refugee services are located in this neighborhood so it's the first stop for many families coming to the U.S. from difficult situations. The school becomes a special place for students to develop their identity in our country.
The music room is a special place because music is a universal language.
Students learn drumming, guitar, recorders, xylophones, dance, singing, and composition.Music class is like a laboratory for hands on learning.
My Project
We sing and dance all over the school and the neighborhood. We have musical rehearsals on the stage, but the CD player is up in the balcony. The stereo system in the music room is hard wired into the room, blown out and fuzzy. We would like a speaker we can carry with us anywhere.
Having a high quality wireless speaker will allow us to practice and perform anywhere in the building, and even take our music making into the community.
The choir can use accompaniment tracks when we go caroling, we can practice dances in the cafeteria, and we can have music class outside when the weather is nice.
