Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
My students enjoy listening to music as well as making use of multiple modalities to learn in their classroom.
I am Pre-School Special Day Class Teacher in California, and use music to enhance instruction.
In reflecting on my teaching practices, I observed that using both visuals and auditory modalities enhances my ability to teach my students who have various disabilities including mental retardation and autism.
My Project
When I conduct my floor time I use music to support what concept I am trying to teach my students. For example when I am teaching about Our Body, I play the following songs: "Head Shoulders, Knees, and Toes", and "Open Shut Them". In short, using both music and movement is motivating way to get my students engaged in a learning experience.
As a Pre-School Special Day Class Teacher, I understand the importance of allowing my students to use as many senses as possible to access the curriculum.
With a Multimedia Player/Recorder in my classroom I can provide them with the opportunity to use multiple senses as well as develop a lifelong love of learning through music.
