Every morning I am greeted with twenty smiling faces who say, "Good morning, Mrs. R." Eighty percent of our school population is on free or reduced price lunch.
My classroom demographics are African American, White, Hispanic and Indian.
I have students where English is their second language, as well as students in the Exceptional Student Education program.
All of my students are unique in their own way. Each child has varied academic levels, but the students in are class are chosen to participate in the VPK program based on need. Most of my students enter a new school year at below expectations.
Regardless of the academic needs, my students are ready for a day of learning through hands-on activities, singing, music, and play.
My Project
All preschoolers LOVE to sing and dance! This is a huge part of our day. Unlike elementary age students, my students do not have the opportunity to attend music classes once a week; therefore, musical materials are limited. It is my job to give all my students musical experiences while incorporating our standards.
These project materials will be an awesome addition to my students learning and gross motor development.
Not only will the class set of rhythm sticks, juggling scarves, and music CD's be fun and engaging; they are learning tools. Tools that will teach phonological awareness, counting skills, coordination, and many more skills needed in their development.
More than half of students from low‑income households
